Glassware and Barware Handling Guide

At the heart of Urban Bar is our unwavering passion for quality products to help deliver the best drinks service and create that moment. We do not release an item if we are not entirely confident in its design, functionality, quality and are proud enough for it to carry our name.

We have developed this attention to detail and passion in our products through seeing how they are used and the energy and devotion put into the creation of a drink or the release of a new spirit.

To ensure you get the best use out of your products and to extend their lifespan we have created a quick guide to the basics of handling glassware and barware.

Glassware

Glassware is one of the most used materials in the hospitality industry, it is one of the hardest materials around but under certain conditions it can be very fragile. The number one reason for broken glassware is not due to manufacturing defects but rather due to bad handling. This guide is designed to give you an understanding of the basics of handling and storing glassware to minimise the chance of breakages and losses that might occur.

Preparation

Use plastic scoops to pour ice. Never scoop directly with a glass.

Never let a glass touch the tap or dispenser.

Pre-heat glasses that will be used to hold warm beverages. Ensure glass is suitable before use.
